note to self - icons

 I've been browsing my old graphics' folders and have decided making icons was fun and that I should get back to that. Just need to figure out why my current Photoshop versions makes all small files also look incredibly low res but there's no time like the present to get back into this hobby. 

Too bad I'm so lazy when it comes to image searching, though.

it's super fun! and one of the first things that got me into LJ a decade ago. do you make them yourself?

oh yeah i post mine over at yuripop! i actually just put up a kpop batch lol. it's definitely fun, though also a bit of a skill in its own right since it's working with such small dimensions lol

Oooh, very nice! I don't kpop much but your graphics look flashy and pretty, and you post such big batches too! I started out with icons a decade ago but am really feeling that struggle of adapting into small dimensions, but that makes pretty icons even more impressive out of the particular skills needed to make them.

the small dimensions are such a struggle, especially with gif icons T__T i do think it's kind of a unique editing style in and of itself though, since 100x100 icons aren't really a thing anywhere except ao3 and dw/lj/etc have such tight specifications. it makes it a challenge ig lol

I'd like to see what you make too! I want to make them again too, just gotta tidy up my communities. The image search for the right image is always tedious so I understand lol

Yay, icon samesies! Did you ever set up graphics specific comms or are they more fandom leaning? Image search has always been a pain in the ass for me, and now even more so cause I don't know where to look for high res ones anymore. Either way seeing the finalized product always makes the hassle worth it!

I actually have a couple communities that either have dead creative projects or other things on them, that I can clean up to turn into an icon comm. I'm thinking dreamsinneon though! You?

Oh yeah definitely is worth it in the end. Unfortunately I don't have a good one myself or I'd share T-T

Oohh the pain of creating comms for things and never getting around to them/using them sparsely is so real, I have like two comms that have the name only, not much else in them. I think that for casual fannish works (whether it's icons/fics and whatnot) public journal entries should be fine?

And don't worry, we're on the same boat! ;; here's to getting around to it though!
